Meet Dr. Mellissa Bortz, founder of Dr MB & Associates Tele-Speech Therapy. Dr. Bortz has been a practicing speech and language pathologist for over 35 years, working with children of all ages from early intervention until they have completed school. She supports and respects all languages and cultures and is passionate about improving communication skills. Dr. Bortz believes that family involvement is the key to a successful therapeutic relationship and will work closely with all members of your child’s therapy team to ensure success.
Dr. Bortz is the author of many scholarly articles and has presented at over 50 conferences and workshops throughout the world. Dr. Bortz trained in both New York and Johannesburg, South Africa. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Hearing Therapy, Master of Arts in Speech Therapy, and Doctor of Philosophy from University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. She also holds a Master of Arts from Queens College and a Master of Philosophy from the City of New York Graduate Center. Dr. Bortz lives in Long Island, New York.
