My Favorite Speech Toy

A farm set is a staple in my therapy room. The possibilities for facilitating speech and language skills are almost endless with this toy. You can work on prepositions (e.g., on, in, behind) to formulate and expand sentences. For example, “The cow is in barn,” “The horse is behind the gate,” and “The sheep in on the barn.” The farm set can also be used to label animals and practice animal sounds both in English and Spanish. For example, horse (caballo), cow (vaca), pig (chancho/puerco/cerdo), and sheep (Oveja). You can support your child in describing the animals and even acting out each animal. The most important thing is to have fun while learning!
